Prickly Goo

Disgustingly Vague

About

Prickly Goo is written and edited by RuairĂ, a native of Dundalk, Ireland. It is about the things that interest me.

Why is this blog called Prickly Goo?

I’m a big fan of the work of Alan Watts, an English philosopher who is most famous for being an ‘interpreter of Eastern thought’ for the West. His work was widely read in the 60s and thanks to the internet has received a new lease of life. I talk about him a lot here.

The clip below (produced by South Park’s Matt Stone and Trey Parker) outlines Watt’s vision of Prickles and Goo.

As Watts says most people are really Prickly Goo or Gooey Prickles. In some respects I am very prickly, and in others I am very gooey. I can be a stickler for exact details (ask anyone who knows me about me and cooking and timers) but in others I can be pretty vague. It also goes some way to describe the kind of things I plan to blog about here, from technical things to more free wheelin’ things, (like Watts work).
